Please reach us at gmfmusicnorthants@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
GMF Music is run and delivered solely by me, Greg Floyd. I'm a specialist music practitioner with over 20 years experience in mental healthcare, SEND, and neurodiversity. That said, GMF Music is very much a family-rooted business - supported behind-the-scenes by my wife, children, and parents, who make it possible for me to do what I do. I use "we" throughout this site and social media, to honour the collective effort that keeps things running, and those that have helped make me who I am.
Based in Northampton, UK, our range is roughly Leicester to Milton Keynes (North to South), and Cambridge to Coventry (East to West). So, if you're within our reach we would welcome your enquiry.
Fees vary depending on projected travel time to get to your venue or setting, but as a rough guide, special events start from £120, and wellbeing interventions start from around £60.
Yes, and yes. We understand this is important for peace of mind, but also a legal requirement for many venues, or settings involving vulnerable adults or children. You can ask for certification of either of these any time you like. We use 'CRB-Direct' for our DBS checks, and 'Simply Business' for liability insurance covering any accidental damages caused by our equipment up to £1m.
No, and no. We understand there are parallels but we intentionally don't market ourselves as either. We're not strictly DJ-ing when we provide our disco's, and the primary purpose of the Wellbeing interventions is therapeutic engagement to promote health, hope, quality of life and purpose. Our approach is deliberately different to an entertainer: We'd far rather be playing the songs YOU choose, provide an adaptive and flexible structure - not a predetermined one - and encourage you to become actively involved in directing your experience and the music-making itself. More on this, in our 'About' section of the website.
We are mindful not to award ourselves status such as 'teacher' or 'therapist'. Music Therapy is a strand of psychotherapy which requires years of training to qualify, and equally, Teachers have worked hard for their Qualified Teacher Status. GMF Music delivers music-as-therapy, activity leadership, event support, engaging workshops and private tuition.
Two things mostly, certainly true for the Wellbeing work::
1) A clinical background with experience managing challenging behaviours, means we can work in the more challenging settings with confidence, such as psychiatric hospitals, that many music providers that would prefer a warmed-up and receptive audience, will not.
2) We're 100% live and unplugged. Meaning no backing track, no set list; no cables or looking for a plug point. And THAT means we remain fully mobile - essential for the 1:1 music-as-therapy interventions to proceed - and flexible enough with our musicianship that a group activity of singing can even be led by the participants (if I know it, I'll play it!).
We are yet to find another provider of music services that come with our on-the-spot versatility AND clinical experience.
Regarding special events, our uniqueness is probably that we offer a lot more control to the customer, from playlist and planning, to volume and vibe on the day including open mic - it's your event, not ours(!).
This would depend entirely on mutual availability, but MOST settings book for wellbeing work once or twice per month. That said, enquiries for one-off visits or taster sessions are welcome.

Right here. Please read this carefully, as terms are considered accepted by proceeding with a booking.
At GMF Music, we operate in good faith and aim to keep our terms simple to avoid unnecessary paperwork. However, by making a booking with GMF Music you are agreeing to the terms and expectations outlined below, which are in place to protect our small, independent business and ensure a fair working relationship.
CANCELATIONS:
Please let us know as early as possible if you need to cancel a booking.
Cancellations made with less than 72 hours' notice may still be invoiced in full, as short-notice cancellations often cannot be re-booked. You may also be invoiced in full if the service cannot go ahead due to:
*No access to the building (no response at the door/gate) or access difficulties including inadequate car parking conditions.
*Booking errors made by the setting.
*Clinical isolation, such as norovirus or covid-19 out-breaks.
*Any other unforeseen circumstances that prevent delivery of the service booked on our arrival.
We understand these events are sometimes outside your control, but as a very small business, unfulfilled bookings still represent a real loss of income.
If WE ever need to cancel, we'll give as much notice as possible, communicate the absence in as many ways available, you'll not be charged, and we'll try to offer an alternative. Some occasional disruption can occur during school holidays due to childcare needs, as there is currently no deputy practitioner available.
PAYMENT TERMS:
Invoices are typically issued on the same day as service delivery. Full payment is expected within 28 days (4 weeks) of the invoice date.
We recognise that some organisations have slower internal payment processes, but we ask all clients to ensure this timeframe is met wherever possible.
If you anticipate a delay, please let us know at the earliest opportunity so we can work with you to avoid escalation.
Non-payment procedure:
*After 4 weeks, a polite reminder will be sent.
*After 6 weeks, a second reminder will follow, seeking clarification.
*After 8 weeks, a £25 late payment fee will be added to your next invoice (or issued as a separate invoice)
*After 10 weeks, if no payment has cleared or communication received, a Letter Before Action (LBA) will be issued. This serves notice of our intention to pursue recovery through the Small Claims Court.
*Any court-related fees and administrative costs incurred will be claimed in addition to the original invoice amount.
FEE REVIEW & VALUE GUARANTEE
Fees are reviewed twice a year and may increase slightly (usually by the cost of a coffee), based on the cost of living rises, and the value of our work as reported by client feedback.
We are committed to offering the best value for our unique services. If you find another provider offering the same level of service, experience, and personalisation at a lower rate, please let us know - we'll match it.
SERVICE DELIVERY
We will ask for any additional information from you when making your booking for the first time, to assist in our planning and preparation. We expect staff within settings to lead by example wherever possible in efforts to promote engagement in the musical activity. We aim to make your booking process as stress-free as possible. We will endeavour to be punctual but if we experience unforeseen delays, we will get in contact to advise and update as soon as possible. You can expect your sessions to be engaging, considered, meaningful and delivered with a smile. If you feel we have fallen short of this, please let us know. We welcome feedback and suggestions. You are welcome to photograph or film parts of the service delivery for media sharing internally or externally, however please let us know if your company has particular rules or policies around sharing of images, film and audio, particularly with regards to safeguarding.
LOSS/DAMAGES
Any damage or loss caused by the setting, its staff, or people under its care, may be reflected in the invoice to cover reasonable replacement or repair costs. This includes, for example, equipment being accidently damaged, or an instrument not returned when asked. We ask that staff support in managing GMF Music resources to minimise these issues.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By booking a session with GMF Music, you confirm your agreement to these terms - which we will have highlighted to you prior to booking and/or on each invoice - and understand they are enforceable under UK small claims procedure if necessary.
Yes, and it would be warmly welcome, especially over on our Facebook page, facebook.com/gmfmusicnorthants. Alternatively, please email us with your feedback: gmfmusicnorthants@gmail.com
